Tomorrow's Shadow

Tomorrow is always looking back at us

We chase it
We appeal to it
We prostrate before it
We bathe in its shadow
But it is not loyal to us

We rise anew everyday not knowing if tomorrow will divorce us

But what choices do we have

Appeasement or abandonment

We are enveloped in its judgement
For one day there won't be a tomorrow we can move with our will to make or
mould molehills or monuments

These sentiments
Bring relevance to our present predicaments

Shall we forever live for a time we will never grasp
Or do we sacrifice a part of our precious commodity being a present presence
To present our future descendants with

To take up the baton previous generations didn't want to run with

Should we build pyramids of sand castles

The path of least resistance

The path of least resistance is

Inviting
and
It will never reject you
And
It doesn't judge
Or ask for anything

if you look at it a certain way

But with the constant scandals
War and the like

I wondered this week on twitter out loud
Where is the solution

For I feel in some sense we are trading weighty words or our worth

for loud words and flashiness

A microphone is easier to use than a pen

So the decry when an another atrocity is thrust into the view of our collective consciousness
We clamber to the safe spot we can use our microphones
But not the pens to pen a plan of prevention

For it is not as if we don't know the troubles that plague our world and our souls

So we can't even feign ignorance

So why when we have the knowledge of our flaws and failings

Why are they still glaringly here to pass down to future generations

It's not even that we don't have the capability to solve all our main problems
In say a week

Hunger
War
Racism
Sexism
Homelessness
Etc

We have the materials or the ability to not fan our own flaws

Aka stop participating in wars and pulling the triggers of guns

But yet why do they persist

For flaws always adorn the path of least resistance

It's easier to throw a punch than to examine my insecurities

It's easier to build than to destroy

You maybe thinking
Ah aha
Aren't you also using a microphone
Aren't you
Simply amplifying noise
To grab attention

We all know of the phrase

Be the Change you want to see

But if you are the only one who changes
What change can there really be

It's not about isolated changers
But butterfly effect changes

We need to be as quick to share what will uplift us
As we are what horrify
Titilates or amuses us
